To the Editor:
Senator Tom Sherman has been there for Granite Staters struggling with the high costs of healthcare for years. Now, with the Supreme Court jeopardizing the Affordable Care Act and the health insurance of over 105,000 Granite Staters, it is more important than ever that we re-elect someone who has done so much for the public health and healthcare of so many Granite Staters.
As a state representative, Tom was an influential, bipartisan voice in the expansion of Medicaid to over 53,000 Granite Staters. As a state senator, Tom helped to pass two critical bills which significantly reduced the cost of prescription drugs. He was also a key voice on the bill, signed into law by Governor Sununu, that capped the cost of epinephrine and insulin, which were being progressively priced out of sight for most patients. No longer will families have to choose between life-saving medication and paying this month’s rent.
Tom’s opponent actively supports efforts to take away the healthcare of over 105,000 Granite Staters and wants to rip away $365 million dollars in federal funding towards our healthcare. You don’t have to be a physician to know that doing that in the middle of a pandemic would be bad medicine.
As a physician at Exeter Hospital for 33 years, now retired, and former Stratham town health officer, I have not met nor worked with any physician more skilled, prepared, knowledgeable, and compassionate than Tom Sherman, both medically and politically. I urge you all to vote to re-elect Senator Tom Sherman on Nov 3rd, or sooner, so he can keep fighting for us all.
